Steps in Buying a Home

  1. Identify a potential lender – Engaging a lender early in the process will help solidify your offer when providing a lender loan preapproval.
  2. Define your home needs and start the search – Sitting down with an agent to discuss your dream home, listing your “must-haves,” and establishing your search criteria within the MLS to identify your future home.
  3. Negotiate on your future home – Using the leverage of your strengthens to get the best prices and contracts for your new home.
  4. Inspections – The first few weeks of a contract a lot needs to be done. A complete home inspection and negotiating items on that inspection, verification of the local occupancy, and insurability of your new home.
  5. Appraisal and Loan Approval – One of the final steps is receiving loan approval from your lender and clearing your ability to close financing.
  6. Walk Through – Completing the final walkthrough to verify everything was completed as laid out by the contract.
  7. Closing – Time to celebrate and sign a lot of documents!
